Worcester St Johns Cycling Club was founded in 1888 to promote and encourage all aspects of cycling in Worcester. That is still our aim. No one aspect of cycling is promoted at the expense of any other, our members are active in cycle touring, club riding, sportives, cyclocross, track racing, time trials, road racing, mountain biking and ultra distance events. We also have an active social side that encourages participation in club runs and club nights.
We cater for all levels of ability from the novice to the experienced and all ages. The Club provides a full calendar of racing events on the road through our affiliations to the British Cycling and CTT and during the summer we promote weekly evening time trials on local courses over distances of 5,10,19.5 and 25 miles. Our achievements are frequently reported in the local press.
Worcester St Johns riders are in the thick of the action on local courses and in open events – our Racing Secretary who will be pleased to provide any further information or guidance. Our most popular activities, however are weekly club runs. Members meet on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays for rides of varying speeds and distances.

Nearly every Tuesday from April to September there are Time Trial events (5 to 25 miles) on a variety of local courses. The list of events is published each year and can be found on the club website. The current fee is £3 to enter (free for under 16’s).
Minimum age is 12 years and anyone under 18 must have a consent form signed by a parent. Riders start at minute intervals and must not ride in the slipstream of another rider unless it is a ‘2-up’ event. Results are shown on the website within a few days of the event.
Every Sunday, regardless of weather, there are two main club rides from Worcester Bridge (New Rd side)
At 8am – typically 50/60 miles and last around 3 hours (average speed 17mph). Ride routes are posted on our Facebook group page in advance and are often available to download as a GPS via the WSJCC Garmin Connect site.
At 9.30 am again 50/60 miles but lasting approximately 4 hours with a good cafe stop half way round. These social rides are about 15 mph and usually avoid difficult hills.
There are regular shorter rides on Saturdays at 9 am from Worcester Bridge as well as 10 am training rides for faster and more experienced members
The Wednsday 9.30 am ride follows a similar pattern to the 9.30 Sunday ride.
There are often other ad-hoc rides at different times on Sundays (and other days) which are put onto the club facebook page.
